Ethical statement

All of us here at Blackfinger Coffee wear our values on our sleeves. We run our small business cooperatively and make decisions together from the small silly ones to the big ones.

Being a co-operative doesn’t just mean we make decisions together, it means we share in the good (and tough) times together. We’re sharers at heart and we want to bring the good times to the our local community. We’re more than a queer and worker owned cafe/roastery: we’re a community space for everyone. We know it’s tough out there in the world so we want to create a calm and welcoming space where everyone is welcome.

We want to limit our impact on the world beyond our community too, and we believe that there is no community without the all the growers and producer we get to work and collaborate with, from who we choose to source our coffee to how we decide to manage our waste.

We believe actions speak so much louder than words. We could publish an impact assessment with everything in it, but we don’t think a glossy, one-off annual report is always the right approach. They have their place, but we want to let our actions speak for themselves instead of relying on a single document.

Much love,

Blackfinger Team xx
